Overview

Material properties decide how products and structures behave, and many of them are set at the smallest scales. We bring materials-science knowledge to questions of selection, characterisation and development.

We work from the practical question, what has to perform, for how long and under what conditions, back to the material. Where a material is loaded close to its limits, we combine that knowledge with numerical analysis, for example of how a crack in a composite concentrates stress.

How we can help

  • Material selection and failure analysis
  • Fracture and stress analysis of composites and structures (FEA)
  • Support with the characterisation of nanomaterials
  • Advice on coatings and surface engineering
  • Literature and technology reviews
  • Research and development support
